What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a healing science and art that is over 4000 years old and is the primary mode of health care for over 1 billion of the world's population (some of the healthiest people on Earth) It effects the human body through tiny needles inserted into specific points which are able to initiate changes in the body to correct dysfunction. Acupuncture can treat a number of conditions. The reason that acupuncture can treat so many conditions is because the focus of the acupuncturist is on returning the body to balance. Essentially, the acupuncturist allows the body to heal itself.

What can I expect?
For side effects, unlike most medication, there are virtually none. A common response to treatment is a deeper, more refreshing sleep. People are very suprised at how little discomfort the insertion of the needle creates. It may feel like a slight skin prick as the needle is inserted, this sensation usually diminishes completely after a few seconds. Often people find the treatment very relaxing, and it is not uncommon for people to fall asleep during a treatment.

How often will I be treated?
The number of treatments needed will depend on each person and condition. A change in health should be noticed immediately, within a few hours, or sometimes within a few days. Acute illness and some chronic illnesses may respond with only one treatment, while other conditions may take a few treatments to respond. Generally 3-5 treatments will indicate if you will respond or not.
